10 TIPS WHEN STARTING STRENGTH TRAINING

▪Determine your goal and the purpose for starting.
▪Prioritize and schedule your training sessions into your week
▪Train with someone else. Whether this is a coach or someone else in the gym that knows what they’re doing . Have someone there to keep you accountable.
▪Have a program that you can follow. Don’t walk into the gym not knowing what to do.
▪Prioritize technique over the weight. Strength training is a skill, you need to first learn the skill
▪Progressively increase the work that you do in your sessions. Either increase the loads (weights), number of exercises, number of sets and/or number of reps. You should be able to do this session to session.
▪Stick to the basics. Don’t over complicate your workouts. Keep everything simple and focus on nailing the basics lifts.
▪Understand what you’re doing and why your doing it. If you’ve got a coach be sure to ask plenty of questions.
▪Be consistent and don’t compare yourself to others. Strength training is a marathon not a sprint, it takes time.
